In October 2023, Ibrahim Sabra joined the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law. As a research associate, he is involved in EU and third-party-funded projects revolving around the intersection of artificial intelligence, data protection, and human rights law. Ibrahim holds a Master of Laws in information technology law from the University of East Anglia in the UK, as an awardee of the distinguished UK government’s Chevening Scholarship, and a Bachelor of Laws from Ain Shams University in Egypt.

His research focuses on the issues of AI governance, internet regulation, digital policy, automated decision-making, digital identity, and digital government. Before joining the Department, Ibrahim assumed academic, research, and consultancy positions at various institutions. This allowed him to build multifaceted experience at the nexus of law, policy, society, technology, and human rights. Ibrahim has also been actively engaged in developing legal education through experiential learning, curriculum reforms, and practice-informed research.
