Research Focus

Selen Yakar is a research associate at the institute and is working on the secondary storage of health data as part of the preNUDGE project. She is also writing her doctoral thesis on gender discrimination by AI systems in the light of the AI Act. 

She studied law in Cologne and Istanbul and developed an interest in legal policy issues such as gender equality during her studies. As part of her doctorate and several lectures and publications, she has focused on the detection and prevention of gender discrimination through algorithmic systems, including a gender-awareness in medicine.
