Forum "Data Law" - Data Act vs. GDPR – are we creating an innovation-friendly environment?
12 October 2023 / 17.00-19.30
Invitation to the panel discussion
Digitalisation, data and law. Data-driven innovations can bring benefits in areas such as personalised medicine, mobility, policy-making and more modern public services. In addition, data-driven business models are an important strategic component for many companies. Access to data and the ability to use it are crucial for innovation and growth.
In early 2020, the EU published a new EU Data Strategy to enable EU-wide and cross-sectoral data sharing for the benefit of businesses, researchers and public administrations, a single market for data, so to speak. Since then, numerous EU projects have been launched to regulate the use and exploitation of data.
In order to create a forum for regular exchange between academia and practice (DPO, TKK, RTR, BKA, BMJ, judiciary and relevant companies), the event series "Data Law Forum" is being launched under the umbrella of the Institute for Innovation and Digitisation in Law at the University of Vienna. The title of the first meeting is Data Act vs. DSGVO - are we creating an innovation-friendly environment?
The next meeting will take place on 25 January 2024 and will be dedicated to the topic of AI regulation.
