Research Focus
Theresa is a research associate at our institute, working on EU-funded and third-party research projects. She developed a strong interest in the intersection of technology, politics, and law during her undergraduate studies at Leuphana University Lüneburg, which she deepened through the LL.M. program Law and Governance in Digital Society at the University of Groningen.
Through internships with civil society organizations in Germany and Myanmar, she gained practical insights into the complex and often ambivalent role of digital technologies. In a participatory research project in 2018/19, she explored the role of social media in the lead-up to Myanmar’s 2020 parliamentary elections, working closely with local youth. Her master's thesis focused on the use of student data and involved a collaborative research project with two German schools.
Theresa is currently pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD under the supervision of Prof. Barbara Prainsack and Prof. Nikolaus Forgó, examining the Right to Free Development of the Personality in the Context of Personalised Learning. Her research interests include AI governance, fundamental rights, critical data studies, and youth perspectives on digital futures.
