Biomap
The BIOMAP Project’s goal is to create a uniform classification system for skin diseases with clinically relevant disease descriptors/categorizations, which will lead to better patient care and will kick start further research in the field by identifying novel correlations between disease progression and symptoms or DNA. The BIOMAP Project will bring together a large collection of data sets (“Cohorts”), mostly from major research Universities, to begin this work. The BIOMAP consortium will not directly perform any clinical studies; instead, BIOMAP will (re-)use data collected in epidemiological studies, clinical studies and/or clinical trials conducted by the beneficiaries of BIOMAP or partner organizations. UNIVIE serves as a legal consultant in the BIOMAP Project, assisting with contract drafting and compliance with European legislation regarding data protection, privacy and intellectual property rights. Further information on the project is available here and in ucris.
