New Book: Civil Liability for AI and Software

21.05.2023

Christiane Wendehorst, together with Mark Geistfeld, Ernst Karner and Bernhard Koch, has published the book “Civil Liability for Artificial Intelligence and Software".

In this book, Geistfeld, Karner and Koch address the question of how damages caused by artificial intelligence systems are allocated by the rules of tort liability currently in force in the Member States of the European Union and in the United States. They examine whether - and if so, to what extent - national tort regimes differ in this respect and identify possible gaps in the protection of injured parties.

Wendehorst developed guiding principles for security and liability in the context of software and assesses the extent to which liability regimes are adapted to the new market realities. Together with Yannic Duller, she has co-authored a study on "Security and Liability Aspects of Software", which can be found in the book.
