Review of Dr. Jonas Botta
I currently completed my doctorate in law at the German University of Administrative Sciences and work as a research associate („Forschungsreferent“) at the German Research Institute for Public Administration in the program area "Transformation of the State in Times of Digitization". My academic focus is on data protection issues in (online) education and at work. In addition, I have specialized in the legal dimension of cross-border data flows, in particular the EU-US Privacy Shield framework. I received several scholarships for my work, most notably from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation ("Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes") and the German Foundation for Law and Informatics ("Deutsche Stiftung für Recht und Informatik").
In May 2019 I was a visiting researcher at the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law of Professor Forgó at the University of Vienna. At the institute I was able to benefit from the outstanding scientific network, the excellent library and the personal exchange with my (very friendly) colleagues. I was also happy to participate in a large number of events. I am very grateful to Professor Forgó for the unique opportunity and can highly recommend a stay in Vienna.
