As the ODYSSEUS Project came to a close in November of 2024 (after having been extended in September 2024), so does UNIVIE´s involvement in this European Union’s Horizon 2020 Project. Before the final goodbye to our Project Partners in the Review Meeting in January 2025 (due to be held in Brussels), UNIVIE had the chance of attending the Project´s Final Conference in the Central Military Club in Bulgaria, Sofia, on the 26th of November, organised by the Bulgarian Defence Institute (BDI), the Project Coordinator.
Apart from engaging in the inspiring discussions – which were broadened by the participation of partners from the INHERIT, HiTDOC, MELCHIOR and STBERNARD Projects – our UNIVIE Team member Peter Hübelbauer had the opportunity to offer the audience a presentation on “Detecting suspicious transactions in the supply chain – a sociotechnical & legal analysis”, placing emphasis on the appropriate, reasonable and proportionate procedure of economic operators to detect suspicious transactions. This was achieved together with the South East European Research Centre (SEERC) Senior Research Officer Prof. Dr Iraklis Paraskakis who focused on the sociotechnical aspects of the presentation.
This contribution is due to be followed by the joint publication of a paper on the subject, bringing attention to the research endeavours surrounding explosives precursors and highlighting the achievements of the ODYSSEUS Consortium over the last 3 years on this subject.
