The importance of data for AI

Wendehorst attended this year's Open Data Institute (ODI) Summit.

Christiane Wendehorst joined the ODI Summit 2023: Data Changes as a speaker on the panel 'Regulation & rights in the age of AI: Challenges & opportunities'. This year the ODI Summit 2023 was a truly global event, bringing people together from a variety of sectors & backgrounds to ensure no-one is left behind on AI and Data.

The theme of the Summit 2023 derives from Sir Nigel’s maxim "Without data, there is no AI". For society, the environment, and the economy to benefit, we need to focus as much on the data as we do on the rapidly evolving technology. The Summit is a melting pot of ideas from civil society, the public and private sectors and academia, to ensure that we leave no one behind in the new era of technological development (AI) globally.

By speaking at the summit, Wendehorst took part in the global discussion on the future of data and AI! As a renowned international expert on data law, Wendehorst has developed the theory of rights in co-generated data, which was first mentioned in a publication by her and Neil B. Cohen: ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy

In addition, Wendehorst is project leader of the project "From co-generated data to generative AI", which was launched as part of the GPAI Data Governance Working Group, of which she is also a member.
