Nikolaus Poechhacker is a Post-Doc Senior Scientist at the Digital Age Research Center (D!ARC) at the University of Klagenfurt. Prior to that, he was a researcher at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science at the University of Graz in the team of Prof. Eisenberger. He received his PhD in Sociology from the Technical University of Munich and graduated from the University of Vienna in Science and Technology Studies (MA) and Sociology (BA), during which he also took courses in Computer Science (EC). During his studies he was also a research assistant at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna, in the group Science, Technology, and Societal Transformation.
His work explores the relationship between democratic institutions, law, social order, and algorithmic systems in various domains, bringing together perspectives from media theory, STS, computer science, and sociology of law and technology.
