UNIVIE, through the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law, is a proud Consortium member of the PERIFORMANCE project. The project, funded by the European Union (Grant agreement ID: 101216808), which started on the 1st of September, unites 13 Partners (4 of which are patients’ organisations) in a 36-month long action focused on enhancing stakeholders’ (patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers and community representatives) engagement in cancer research, in the context of biobanking, as this is essential for advancing the relevance, impact, ethicality, and equity of research outcomes.
The kick-off meeting was a great opportunity for the UNIVIE team, led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Forgó, to become acquainted with the consortium members and the work which will be carried out by each of the 8 work packages that will be responsible for the tasks within the project. All work packages were presented during the meeting, also attended by the Research and Technological Development (RTD) policy officer and project officer, and ended with a brief discussion of the upcoming steps for the project.
UNIVIE will be mainly supporting the project on ethical, legal and social matters related to the use of biobanking for cancer-related research. Project Partners include BBMRI-ERIC, the project coordinator, with whom ID Law is closely involved with as part of the BBMRI.at #3 project. Other partners include the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC-WHO).
ID Law is looking forward to the cooperation within PERIFORMANCE!
