Artificial intelligence (AI) has become ubiquitous and significantly impacts the state, society and individuals. While its opportunities are enormous, so are the dangers and risks: The use of AI interferes with goods protected by human rights. It remains to be seen whether the threat can be limited to individual human rights or whether it more fundamentally affects the common centre of all human rights, namely the autonomy of the human person. This raises the question of whether and how AI is or should be regulated.
