Expert Panel on eEvidence, 23rd of November 2018

On the 23d of November we hosted an expert roundtable on electronic gathering and exchange of evidence in the EU.

Lani Cossette (Director EU Government Affairs, Microsoft), Christian Pilnacek (Secretary General, Federal Ministry of Constitutional Affairs, Reforms, Deregulation and Justice), Emily Johnson (Research Associate on eEvidence2, University of Vienna) and Mathias Preuschl (Partner at PHH Attorneys at Law) discussed legal issues moderated by Prof. Nikolaus Forgó (Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law, University of Vienna).

Christian Pilnacek presented his views from a lawmaking perspective. Lani Cossette gave insight into practical problems and challenges Microsoft is facing in the context of digital evidence. Emily Johnson gave an insight into legal research at the University of Vienna and the eEvidence2 project and its legal challenges. Mathias Preuschl, representing the  European Bar Association (CCBE), raised his concerns regarding the protection of fundamental rights.
