EU funded project KATY starts with kick-off this week

11.02.2021

KATY is one of the many third-party funded projects of the Department of Innovation and Digitalization in Law. The kick-off is taking place this week. KATY proposes an AI-powered system for personalized medicine that brings medical "AI-powered knowledge" to the fingertips of clinicians and clinical researchers.

AI-powered personalized medicine promises to find tailored, targeted, virtually "hand-crafted" cures for patients.

AI-powered knowledge is human-interpretable knowledge that clinicians and clinical researchers understand, trust, and can effectively use in their daily work routines. Thus, KATY is an AI-powered system for personalized medicine built on two main components: a distributed knowledge graph and a pool of explainable-artificial-intelligence predictors. As a stress test and due to the lack of personalized clinical responses, KATY is being tested on a cancer type with low prevalence and complexity: clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC).
