The Data Protection Moot Court (DPMC) is an online international competition for law students and recent graduates organized with the support of the Department of Innovation and Digitalisation in Law at the University of Vienna. Participants work in teams as legal representatives of a data subject or controller in a
fictional case before a supervisory authority where they apply provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The DPMC is conducted in English and consists of a written and oral phase. Data protection law experts from legal practice, academia, civil society and the Austrian supervisory authority sit in the jury. The DPMC provides students and recent graduates with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of data protection law, practice their reasoning skills and meet experts in the field.
