The EuWGB is a project developed by an international group of academics and practitioners to make EU commercial law more uniform and clearer and to add special regulations (“28th regime”), for example on the European loan agreement or the European mortgage.
At the conference, Christiane Wendehorst gave a presentation on the simplification of EU law as an imperative for Europe's competitiveness. She addressed the challenges for the EU in reducing bureaucratic hurdles in order to be able to compete internationally. She also referred to the request of former president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, who had also called for a stress test of existing EU law and a reduction in bureaucracy in his report on the future of EU competitiveness.
