19.09.2019 18:00 - 22:00

The lecture by Marietje Schaake on "Power of law or law of power? Why we need European leadership in governing technology globally" is the third event in the series of the "ERSTE Foundation Tipping Point Talks 2019" and takes place in the framework of the Vienna Biennale for Change by the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts. The "Tipping Point Talks" are ERSTE Foundation’s contribution to the 200th anniversary of Erste Bank and Sparkassen.

Please visit the website of the event's organiser MAK for further information and details: mak.at/tptalks2019. Note that the panel discussion will be in English language only. The number of seats is very limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. If you have any additional questions, please contact 200@erstestiftung.org.

Before the event on "Power of law or law of power? Why we need European leadership in governing technology globally" takes place, a selected group of activists, researchers, experts and public sector representatives from the larger field of tech governance across the EU will come together to formulate the challenge for the next EU and to devise key elements for the EU's governance of digital space. Against this backdrop, Univ.-Prof. Nikolaus Forgó is invited to focus on the long-term implications and necessities, as well as on linking up questions of ethics with tech governance considerations. In that context he will also consider human rights, the civic space, the rule of law as well as the EU's foreign policy and its global role.
